Ladies 2012 PLAN OF ATTACK!
Everyone is Welcome!
Whether you've never kicked a ball or you've been kicking one since before you could walk - WE WANT YOU! We cater to all levels - hardcore football through hardcore craic. If your puking on your way to training after a large session the night before - FAIR PLAY! If your puking on your way home from training after an intense football session - FAIR PLAY! There will be plenty of football but just as many social events throughout the year so come on down, enjoy, hang out with a great bunch of girls and most importantly prepare to sweat either on the pitch or on the dance floor!
Management Team for 2012
Co Coaches - Mary and Ger Barry
Role - Either or both will plan & run training sessions for the season. In their words - they will NOT be sending emails or organising anything!!
Ladies Manager - Mel Cassidy

Role - Organising anything and everything to do with the squad, ensuring you know training times and locations and have coaches and equipment, attending committee meetings, keeping you all informed - yes expect plenty of emails!! Not sure if I will be playing for most of the year so it gives me something to do to keep involved - because let's face it... my life without football = DULL.
Ladies Captain - Caoimhe McNamara (Quiver)
Role - She is your eyes and ears ladies. She will welcome you, encourage you, motivate you and occasionally probably give out to you - that's her job! She has years and years of football knowledge and experience and will be happy to share it with you on and off the pitch. If you have feedback about coaches, managers, training, games - anything at all really - please let Quiver know and she will liase with the coaches/managers.
Fitness Coach - Claire Dinsmore (The Dins)
Role - To Dins you! She will organise and run fitness sessions throughout the year and basically WHIP OUR BUTTS INTO SHAPE so that you get the very best out of your football and generally look and feel good! Her fitness training plan will be sent out in a separate email.
Football Calendar - what to expect!
The Calendar for 2012 is below, please use this to start planning your year if possible. Some tours and games will be competitive and some will be purely CRAIC - this may help you decide which one's are for you and which are not! Most dates are set in stone so get booking your leave and holiday times etc.
March 10 - KL Challenge - This will be a CRAIC/Welcome tour with evenly mixed teams!
March 23 - Gulf Gaelic Games in Dubai - 1 competitive team, 1 CRAIC team.
April TBC - Bill Nikko (will be a ladies match) - This will be a CRAIC game with evenly mixed teams!
May 26 - SEA Games - Pattaya Thailand - This will be a SEMI-competitive tour - Teams will be selected as 1 x A team, with other teams being an even mix of B's & C's.
May 28 - July 8 (inclusive) - BREAK no training or games! TIME TO GO ON HOLIDAYS!
July 21 - AP Games - Much CRAIC to be had by all. Ladies and Men's mixed teams.
September 15 - Singapore Challenge in Singapore - This will be competitive - Teams will be selected as A, B & C.
October 26, 27, 28 - Asian Gaelic Games in KL (potentially a 3 day games over Hari Raya Haji/Eid - Friday is a public holiday in Singapore) - Needless to say this will be a competitive tour. Teams will be selected as A, B & C.
Training
Training will commence on Sunday Feb 12th and will be on Sundays throughout the year (except in the break) at either 3pm or 5pm. We will aim to add a mid week football training session 6 weeks out from the AGG and it is likely to be a either a Tuesday or Thursday night. Our home pitch is Singapore Cricket Club Grounds at Dempsey see map at this link - http://www.gaeliclions.org/File/Training/where.html/ . Training will be at Dempsey unless you receive a mail to the contrary.
Team Selection, Timing of Team Selection & Selection Criteria
There will be a number of tours throughout the year for which teams will be selected.
So how will team selection work?
There will be a selection panel made up of your co-coaches - Mary & Ger Barry and ladies manager - Mel Cassidy. Basically the coaches will pick the teams and Mel will be the casting vote if disagreements arise. (Can't imagine any disagreements arising between a married couple though so should all go quite smoothly!!).
The overwhelming feedback from last year was to have teams picked EARLY. This will be possible for some tours and not for others. We commit to the following timings:
KL Challenge - Teams announced before training on March 4th.
Gulf Gaelic Games - Teams announced before training on March 4th
Bill Nikko - Teams announced 1 week before
SEA Games - Teams announced before training on May 20
AP Games - Gareth to handle and advise
Singapore Challenge - Teams announced before training Sept 9 (IMPORTANT NOTE - These teams will be the teams selected for the AGG)
AGG - Teams announced before training Sept 9 (IMPORTANT NOTE - This is 6 weeks before the AGG)
The ONLY reasons players will move up or down between teams AFTER September 9 are:
1. INJURY
2. ARRIVAL OF NEW PLAYERS - As in previous years if a NEW player arrives at training, has the relevant work Visa's and is available for the AGG, that player will be given a position on the team they are worthy of being on and teams will change accordingly. We will be as clear and fair about this as possible.
3. LACK OF COMMITTMENT
If you do your sums ladies you will see that you have 8 training sessions after the break and prior to the AGG team selections - which should give you ample time to prove yourselves if you wish to. You will then have 6 weeks of training with YOUR team before the AGG.
So what is the selection criteria?
The 12 players who are best equipped to win the CUP in terms of skills, attitude, commitment, match fitness and who work together as a team - in terms of positions, game play and bonding - will be on the A team.
The 12 players who are best equipped to win the PLATE in terms of skills, attitude, commitment, match fitness and who work together as a team - in terms of positions, game play and bonding - will be on the B team.
The 12 players who are best equipped the win the BOWL in terms of skills, attitude, commitment, match fitness and who work together as a team - in terms of positions, game play and bonding - will be on the C team.
Building Team Spirit & Having the Craic
Part 1 - Team Building/CRAIC sessions - As if coming down to football training and fitness sessions with your mates is not enough craic in itself we hope to encourage an even greater team spirit this year with a few Team Building/Bonding sessions. These sessions will take place instead of the routine Sunday training at various times throughout the season. Advanced warning and full details will be given beforehand.
Part 2 - Post Training Pints and Grub - We would also like to encourage regular Muddy's sessions after training each week because let's face it we don't see each other enough!!! Muddy's will put on a FREE mini bus if we get regular takers to go down for a bite to eat and a few drinks.
Part 3 - We encourage you to attend as many of the social functions as possible because they are pure CRAIC and what more could you want!!
So there you have it! Happy to answer any questions as best I can if you shoot me an email or chat to me at training. The aim of the year is to have a contented, successful, well informed squad so let us know if that's not the case.
Looking forward to a great year lads.
Mel
