Awards & Fancy Dress Night

After our return from the 2006 Asian Gaelic Games held in Shanghai, SGL held the Annual Awards Night at Father Flannagan's Irish Pub on 4th November 2006.  On the Night, we also held an Auction to raise monies for the Club, presided over by the best MC known to man, Mr. Aidan Healo..

The Awards for our Most Valuable Players at AGG 2006 were given out along with presentations to the Coaches and a special Award for the 5-in-a-row divas of the Ladies B Team!

In addition, the Innagural Bill Nikolopoulos Trophy was awarded.  The Trophy is the Club's highest honour and is awarded to the Lion or Lioness who best exemplifies the qualities of Fun, Friendship and Sportsmanship that Bill represented.  The Award was given to the one and only, Bill's great friend, Neil Steffensen.

Given the time of year, the night was deemed Fancy Dress and Lions and Lionesses were warned at their peril that drably dressed, unimaginative folk would be shunned and ignored.  Naturally, they didn't disappoint. 

Best costumes?  Well, where does one start?  Between the Pygmies, Superwoman, Statue of Liberty, Ladies of the Night, Pirates, Devils, Cowboys, Mexican lads, Priests, Bishops and Patsy & Eddie - it was a tough call....
