Culchies vs. Rest of the World

18th November, 2006

...

Once the season was over and the bruises and knocks from the Asian Gaelic Games had healed, the Lions and Lionesses were raring to get back onto the pitch once again.

So, some bright spark came up with idea of having a challenge match between the Culchies in the club and Dublin + the Rest of the World...

Cue much debate on the age old Culchies vs. Jackeens issue in Ireland....

Word on the Street prior to the games was decidedly that the Culchies were absolutely BAYING for blood... something to do with the good people of Dublin and the Rest of the World having oppressed them for hundreds, nay thousands of years...  They were due to arrive en masee (in the Massey) armed with Silvermints, Miraculous medals, Bailer Twine and Shovels...ready to show the Jacks a thing or two about a thing or two so they were... hi...

Ah God Love them.......

The moment of the day has to go to "The Bishop" Crosbie, who, when comprehensively outplayed and outmanouvered by his younger brother he resorted not to chasing or tackling him, but took off his flat cap (yes, he had a flat cap) and fecked it at the brother - and the expletives uttered it has to be said would not have gone down well in the parochial house...

The ROW won out in the Men's game - we think the culchies won in the Ladies - but not too sure!

After pitchside tay and hang sangwiches (pies and beer), we all retired to Molly's to continue the debate long into the night...
