Asian Gaelic Games 2006

The Singapore Gaelic Lions closed out a fantastic 2006 Season with the annual tour to the Asian Gaelic Games, held this year in Shanghai over the 14th & 15th of October.

Over 70 Club-members and friends made the trip.  SGL fielded two Ladies and three men's teams and were one of the largest clubs in attendance at the Games.

The Men's A team proved their worth by reaching the Cup Final, having fought their way past notable teams including Japan and Shanghai.

The Ladies B team had a great run at the games and completed an impressive run of 5 wins in a row on Day one at the games.  So impressive that they ended up competing in the Cup competition!

Off the pitch the Lions and Lionesses got into the spirit of things to say the least.  Many shenanigans too numerous to repeat, lots of 'high spirits' and a great club atmosphere made the weekend for all in the touring party.

Shanghai put on a great show and organised to the games to a tee.  Singapore will host the games in 2007, and are looking forward to emulating their success and welcoming the rest of the Asian Clubs to the Lion city.
