So who are the Gaelic Lions anyway?

Singapore Gaelic Lions are like a family.

We fight with each other. There is name calling, hair pulling, tears and tantrums. There are troublesome younger brothers, even wilder younger sisters, maiden aunts, weirdo uncles and a collection of cousins where we’re not strictly sure how we’re related. It’s a great gang of people.

You sign up thinking you’re getting some exercise and maybe a social life, unaware you’re checking in to the Hotel California of Sports Clubs. Club-mates swear at the end of every season that it’s never again but you just can’t bring yourself to step away. Who wants to be the last to hear the latest or discover there was a night out and you weren’t there?

Our competitive success is thrilling and hard won. The effort that goes into each season is mammoth from the back room through to the players and WAGs. Truth is, we’d hang out with each other regardless because where-else are you going to enjoy the slagging and the messing and the chatting and the swearing and the support of home?

It’s wonderful.
