The annual “Power On” tournament, otherwise known as the AP games, was held in honour of our treasured friend and club mate the late and great, Alan Power, on Saturday July 17th. Alan’s beloved sports – football and gaelic football – were once again the order of the day with teams from both codes participating in the 8 hour event.

Football clubs included – Hibernian’s United, Hibernian’s FC, Pirates, Gaelic Lions, Rebels

Hib’s FC took out the title following a savage battle with the Pirates which ended in a penalty shoot out. 3rd place was Gaelic Lions, with Hib’s United in 4th and the Rebels bringing it up the rear!

MVP’s were as follows – Hib’s FC: Becs Lewis, Hib’s Utd: Jen Allen, Pirates: Mike Hughes, Gaelic Lions: JP & Rebels: Keith Morrison.

On the Gaelic side of things the ladies and the men mixed it up to play 9 a side amended rules Football. All in all the Langers, the Fagsuckers, the Latches and the Sweet cheeks mustered a mighty effort and put on one hell of a show in what can only be described as a GRAND day for the club once again. Although it must be said, team selection raised a few questions with both selectors finding themselves on the winning team…. Hmmmm?? Still it must be said that it was most fitting that the Sweetcheeks reined victorious, managed by Alan’s beloved Tess, in one of her last performances before leaving our shores. MVP for the day went to Becs Lewis who once again turned heads and outdid herself playing a stormer in both the football and the gaelic football competitions.

The event culminated with presentations, fun, frivolity, boat races and of course a Jager bomb or two in Alan’s home from home, Muddy Murphy’s.
